My name is Dena. I’ve traveled around the sun 30 times thus far and was born under the stars on June 14th making me a Gemini. I currently live in Michigan with my soulmate, Brendon while working as a Senior Inventory Coordinator. I’m enjoying life day by day with a chronic (autoimmune) disease known as type one diabetes, as well as a musculoskeletal disease known as fibromyalgia. I suffer from a few other illnesses and possible lupus. My diaversary is May 21st, 2007. I was diagnosed with fibro October 9th, 2017. I have been a nerd and gamer for as long as I remember. I grew up when technology came roaring into this world. I have passions for web designing, digital drawing, traditional arts/mediums, photography (film & digital), cooking/baking, gardening, reading, ice skating, biking and running (I ran my first half marathon April 11th, 2015) and even tried my hand at drafting. I also delight in traveling, animals, and nature of all seasons. There’s nothing like the feeling of the crisp, frozen air, rushing through your lungs on a cold winter day as you step outside. Or the way the leaves gently dance with their brilliant colors of scarlet, saffron, and russet on the ground during a late Autumn day. One of the single greatest feelings is being wrapped in the arms of the one you love with a good book, a blanket, and a warm cup of hot cocoa (or coffee).

I have been blogging for at least 12-15 years. In those years I have graduated high school, gotten married, divorced, diagnosed with diabetes, defeated death several times, moved countless times, met some amazing and not so amazing people and here I am. I’ve learned you can’t please everyone, if you’re not happy change it or leave, and always put God first. Don’t take life for granted. Don’t take those who love and care for you for granted. Take it slow and enjoy life to its fullest. God only knows when our time is up.

My Diabetes

Currently, I manage my diabetes via the Medtronic MiniMed 630g. My insurance does not cover the CGM so I’m fighting for that at the moment. I use Humalog insulin in my pump. If you’re diabetic and have any questions or curiosities, please do not hesitate to ask! I have been diabetic for over 10 years.

  1. You can certainly see your enthusiasm in the paintings you write. The sector hopes for more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to say how they believe. All the time go after your heart. “Everyone has his day and some days last longer than others.” by Sir Winston Leonard Spenser Churchill.
